Shoulder to Shoulder . . . Side by Side!

Inspirational speaker and author, Carol Van Atta, joins friend and Tragedy to Triumph speaker,
Laurie Palmer, in an innovative and dynamic weekend retreat created especially for your Church’s Women’s Group.

Shoulder to Shoulder…Side by Side!

An enlightening seminar on how women from every culture and every walk of life can learn to let go of fear, jealously, and “female competition” in order to grow in deeper intimacy with Christ and each other.

It is time to lay our phony masks aside to serve and support one another in love and compassion. If you are seeking more intimate friendships where you can truly share your heart this is the topic for you! Ladies, we need one another. God says in Matthew 18:20, For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.

Our Father also states in Ecclesiastes 4, Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not easily broken.

Let us together become the cord that is not easily broken. Let’s stand shoulder-to-shoulder and side-by-side. After all, that is where God wants us to be!

Speakers Carol and Laurie have dedicated their lives to serving Jesus Christ and helping others learn how to walk in the freedom found only in a personal relationship with Him. Together, these two dynamic women of God will share how we can accomplish much for the God’s Kingdom when we learn to accept each other’s differences and love those women who the world deems unlovable. Who knows…you may have been, or are, one of those women…both Carol and Laurie were.

But today, by the grace of God, these two women have become royal heiresses to an Eternal Heavenly Home. Neither of them did it alone. We serve a God of relationship. Let us discover new ways to support each other just as Christ does--with His Love, His Truth, and His Grace. After all, we are called to be His hands extended to a confused, deceived, hungry, and hurting world. We cannot be divided when so much is at stake.

About Carol:
Former drug abuser and “relationship-junkie” is the founder of a ministry, appropriately titled: Becoming a Warrior for Christ…one step (and a prayer) at a time. It is her heartfelt desire to help other women break free from whatever entangles them, so they can walk in the fullness of God’s plan and purpose for their lives. Carol speaks to groups of all sizes and writes for a number of Christian Publications. Her exciting novel, the first in a series, Slaying the Shadows was recently released, and was selected as the number three title to read on Bookwire’s Bowker Recommends list for the month of March category Religion/Spirituality. Carol also works with alcoholics and drug addicts helping them overcome their addictions and find meaningful employment. She is a Leader in the Accept No Substitutes Ministry at East Hill Foursquare Church in Gresham, Oregon, where she works with women breaking free from destructive, and co-dependent relationships.

About Laurie:
She is the founder of a speaking ministry—From Tragedy to Triumph. Laurie is a woman who has overcome a life-time of abuse, addiction, and crime. Without a real childhood, Laurie’s path to addiction and even crime was perhaps predictable. However, what was not predictable was the total transformation that Laurie would achieve, creating a life rich with family, friends, ministry, and most importantly as a Daughter of the King. Laurie recently flew to Washington DC, to accept the Women of Triumph Award, hosted by CNN’s Judy Woodruff! There she was honored for her commitment to change, and desire to help other women find freedom. Laurie speaks to women’s groups throughout the Portland area about her incredible transformation in Christ. She also founded and operates a Clothing Closet of indigent men and women in need of clothing. Laurie is also an Alcohol and Drug Intervention Specialist for one of Portland, Oregon’s largest non-profit social service agencies.

Expect to cry, laugh, and to be stretched emotionally and spiritually as these two Overcomers share their experiences, courage, and God’s amazing hope with your audience. Their love for the Lord, and for their sisters in Christ, will leave a lasting impression on your heart.
